What’s in the Best Nighttime Oil Blend for Soothing Allergy Relief?

Here’s the exact combo we’ve been using in our larger diffuser:

  • 5 drops Peppermint – Opens up the airways and eases sinus pressure. Basically a breath of fresh air in a bottle.
  • 5 drops Lavender – Calms the body and mind, and promotes deeper, longer sleep.
  • 2 drops Tea Tree – Antimicrobial and respiratory-supporting, great for purifying the air while everyone’s sleeping.
  • 2 drops Eucalyptus – The MVP of chest congestion support, this one helps clear stuffy noses and soothe coughs.

We’re typically a “10-drops-or-less” family for diffusers, but I bump this one up a little in our larger living room diffuser (which I’ll link HERE to if you’re curious). And yes—I’ve used it in the kids’ rooms too, just toned down a bit.

Our 8-year-old (affectionately known as “little man”) has been hit especially hard this month, and this blend has truly helped him rest. Even our teenager is breathing easier and waking up less congested. Praise the Lord and pass the peppermint!

Usage Tips + How to Make the Nighttime Blend Work for Your Family

This blend is best used:

  • In a diffuser before or during sleep
  • During the day in a common space to freshen the air and reduce symptoms
  • While reading or winding down before bed

Bonus Tip: Add a few drops to a personal inhaler or a bowl of steaming water (with caution!) for a quick respiratory steam.

If using around little ones (under 5), consider reducing the number of drops and always diffuse in a well-ventilated area.

Safety & Dilution Notes

  • Always diffuse in a well-ventilated space.
  • For children under 10, it’s best to lower the total drop count.
  • Avoid direct topical use of this blend unless diluted properly with a carrier oil.
  • Not recommended for use in infants’ rooms.
