For the icing, I followed the instructions closely but made a crucial adjustment. I reduced the confectioner’s sugar to 3 1/2 cups instead of the 4 1/2 cups called for in the original recipe. My family has become accustomed to less sugar, and I find it enhances the flavors without overwhelming sweetness. Honestly, I might cut it down by another cup next time, but for now, this balance was just right.
