I know. I know. I can hear some of you on here telling me that you don’t have any sourdough. However, there are some that do follow me on here that have a sourdough starter. Knowing that, I have to share these amazing sourdough recipes that I find and tweak for myself. So the first one I want to start with are these amazing sourdough tortillas!

When I started my journey into sourdough, I would get frustrated trying new recipes. My starter would seem too runny, the recipe wouldn’t have enough salt, or it would have too much sugar. I am sure it will be the same if you try some of the recipes I post on here. We all have to just try and try again.

“If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.”

Edward Hickson’s Moral Song (1857),

My family loves these tortillas. The recipe made several, but I ended up having to double the recipe. They were eating them faster than I could make them. We were having tacos that evening, and I needed to use up some sourdough. I thought it would be a nice change from the store-bought tortillas. Especially since I am all about trying to move into a more “made from scratch” lifestyle.

Now, when I made these, I used a tortilla press. I have had this press for several years. Anyone who knows my husband understands that he is all about gadgets. I downsized several years ago, but this tortilla press remained. It was just sitting in the cabinet, waiting patiently for the one day we would finally pick it up and use it.

I think if the tortilla press could talk and had feelings, it would tell me about how lonely and dark things have been where it sat all these years.

The press seemed to make things a lot easier for me, but you can easily roll these out to your preferred thickness. My suggestion is to roll one out, place it in the pan, and while it is cooking, roll out your next one. I would also cover the tortilla balls to keep them from getting too much air. The dough will dry if you aren’t careful.

I think that’s it! I truly hope you enjoy these as much as we do.

PS: You may want to make extra, just in case.

Guess what!? I now have a Sourdough Beginner’s Guide post! Check it out here.
